Sembrando Vida
Sembrando Vida is a large-scale reforestation program launched by the Mexican government in 2019 to promote climate resilience and rural development. Since its inception, hundreds of thousands of smallholder farmers have enrolled, converting all or part of their traditional annual cropping systems into agroforests. Our research uses data and insights from the Sembrando Vida program to investigate how transitions from traditional cropping systems to agroforestry influence ecosystem health, farmer livelihoods, and food systems, with the goal of informing more effective and equitable reforestation policies globally.
